Nursing Students’ In-School Alternative Practice Experience during the Post-COVID-19 Period

Abstract

|
Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the experience of nursing students with in-school alternative practices of nursing students in post-COVID-19 situations.
Methods: The participants were 15 nursing students with in-school alternative practice experience. Data were collected through focus group interviews using semi-structured research questions. The collected data were analyzed using conventional content analysis.
Results: The results of this study had four categories and 12 subcategories. The four categories were “alternative practice conducted in unavoidable circumstances”, “becoming an opportunity for deep learning”, “decreased worries about career path”, and “requirements for improved alternative practice”. The results of this study are significant in that they provided an understanding of the in-school alternative practice experience of undergraduate nursing students.
Conclusion: In a situation where the end of COVID-19 is unknown, in-school alternative practices may continue. Therefore, this study is significant in that it the results can contribute to preparing efficient alternatives to improve in-school alternative practice programs that are more useful for nursing students.
