Nursing Students¡¯ In-School Alternative Practice Experience during the Post-COVID-19 Period

Abstract

|
Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the experience of nursing students with in-school alternative practices of nursing students in post-COVID-19 situations.
Methods: The participants were 15 nursing students with in-school alternative practice experience. Data were collected through focus group interviews using semi-structured research questions. The collected data were analyzed using conventional content analysis.
Results: The results of this study had four categories and 12 subcategories. The four categories were ¡°alternative practice conducted in unavoidable circumstances¡±, ¡°becoming an opportunity for deep learning¡±, ¡°decreased worries about career path¡±, and ¡°requirements for improved alternative practice¡±. The results of this study are significant in that they provided an understanding of the in-school alternative practice experience of undergraduate nursing students.
Conclusion: In a situation where the end of COVID-19 is unknown, in-school alternative practices may continue. Therefore, this study is significant in that it the results can contribute to preparing efficient alternatives to improve in-school alternative practice programs that are more useful for nursing students.
